The mission of The Jefferson City Symphony Orchestra is twofold. The first objective is to provide the mid-Missouri community with symphonic concerts of classical music literature from many cultures. The second objective is to provide symphonic performance opportunities for middle-school through high school age string students. The symphony therefore is like a one-room schoolhouse with approximately two-thirds of the musicians being adults and the remaining one-third being students.
The Jefferson City Symphony Orchestra receives financial support from the following sources:
Jefferson City Community Concert Association
Lincoln University Share in the Arts Series
Capital City Council on the Arts
Missouri Arts Council
Individual Donations
The Jefferson City Community Concert Association supports three JCSO concerts each season. The JCCCA has been a loyal supporter of the symphony for over fifty years. Their concert calendar is published at www.communityconcert.com/concerts.html
The Lincoln University Share in the Arts Series underwrites one JCSO concert each season. The symphony has enjoyed the Share in the Arts Series support since 1995. The Share in the Arts Series concert calendar is published at w3.lincolnu.edu/~sita/.
